Through the Eyes of the Men's Rights Activist

These last few days I have been thinking about why I dislike the MRA and Feminists so much.  Although I agree with the points that both groups bring, at the end of the day, it is the things they share three annoying traits.

1. I am a victim of circumstance, I am being oppressed by 'the other', and there is nothing I can do about it except bitch about it online.

2. I am socialized. My behavior is beyond my control because of this socialization.

3. People do not appreciate how powerful 'the other' is in life.

In a full circle, we see the MRA and Feminists making the same pity-whoring arguments. I would like to be clear that I am for equality - that means treating people equal. I do not expect men to do something that women are unwilling to do. I take men's issues seriously, and I take women's issues seriously. The life of a man is as valuable to me as the life of a woman. It is not 'fence-sitting' to value BOTH genders. Who the hell said on must take a side? If both sides are wrong or unfair, I am not taking anyone's side.

I have been picking on the feminists a lot, and only started on the MRA. Today I found the most hilarious video. It made me think that this is how the MRA see life. Just watch the video.

I have a confession to make

I am a hoarder.

The first image that comes to mind might be that I my house is filled precious trinkets, garbage to the world yet precious to me. Or maybe you might think that my closet is full of shoes that I never wear. Perhaps I convinced myself that I will wear them someday.

None of those things. My house is reasonably clean (considering I have two boys). I weed out my closet regularly and hate having useless crap around the house.

The image above is taken from my account at the local public library. I  check out a lot of audiobooks, months worth of audiobooks. As I read to my children everyday, you will see some children's books. The other items are all books on CD. The Swedish and Mandarin Chinese are already on my I-pod. I am listening to the unabridged version of Steve Pinker: Better Angels. This book is about how our world is much safer and less violent than the past. I also have Steve Pinker: the language instinct. A book about grammar, success in business, religion, and another on the study of bones.

Terrorists Use Rectal IED

Image from Foreign Policy
Zinna Jones of Free Thought Blogs wrote a zippy response to a clip by The Young Turks, Lady-boys in the Middle East. The clip discussed a news piece published by Foreign Policy, exposing horrific human right violations, rape and torture, of transgender sex workers in Dubai.

Islamic Gulf nations pride themselves on their religious conservatism, yet seem to have an astonishing demand for transgender sex work. These ladies are earning up to a thousand dollars a day from Arab clients.  Even though it is incredibly dangerous, commercial sex workers travel from southeast Asia travel to the Gulf.

Whats in a word?

This blog is long over due. With all the hootenanny over Feminism: what people think it is and what it is not - the videos and blogs lead me to reflect about the definition of feminism as well as the definition of MRA.

Most of my readers know that I do not like the Free Thought Blogger "feminism". I find them a bunch of whiny crybabies who enjoy being victims. I bashed the FTB feminists, PZ Meyers, and posted several troll-y images making fun of them. Today, I went to AVoiceForMen, read some blogs, read some comments and the experience left me feeling icky.  It is time to set the record straight about both of these groups. I am not a fence-sitter, that is a person who refuses to take a side. My position is different from that, I am stating that I do not like BOTH groups. I also reject the idea that one must conform to one ideology or another. I would rather be an individual than be a sheep.

Discourse Should Use Clear Words

Feminism's general definition...and I would like to stress the word general definition, is that feminism is a philosophy that supports the right and equality of women. Over centuries, women have been exploited by men. Today, and all around the world, women live as second class citizens. Therefore, the need for organizations that will defend the rights of women, liberate them, and free them is a real need. Christopher Hitchens once said, that the best way to fight poverty is for the liberation of women. There was a time in American history Westerners needed feminism. This was a time we needed it so that families could be stronger and more adaptable to a changing world. In the process western women and men expanded feminism into various disciplines ranging from sociology, economics, anthropology, gender studies, literature, art, philosophy and psychology. In trying to answer everything, the definition of feminism succeeds at answering nothing.

Mississippi still the seventh layer of hell

Always Read The Fine Print

Yahoo News published an article today discussing the most unhealthy places for women to live in The United States.

The study was multi-factored, including things such as breast, ovarian, and uterine cancers. The study considered smoking habits, obesity, rape, domestic violence and poor healthcare. They also considered life expectancy.

As usual, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky  Alabama are consistently the worst places for women to live.

What is bad for women is also bad for men. If women do not fare well in this Hell we call Mississippi, I do not see how men will do much better. Of course, one  must keep in mind that within Mississippi there are  differences in class, education, and wealth. A wealthy woman from Mississippi would fare much better than a poor woman in Vermont. Regardless, Mississippi comes up as the worst, most ignorant, must unhealthy, most obese, most shitty place to live.

Cult of Dusty posted a funny video about Mississippi.

Insecure people going crazy

MrRepzion posted a great video today talking about a hellish experience he had with an ex-girlfriend. I think that any person who has dated more than five years can relate to his story. I can certainly relate, and posted a video response

My Ancestor Elizabeth Kemmish II

Up Mississippi by Packetship "Illinois"
January 1853

The story of my ancestor Elizabeth takes a significant turn January 1853. Elizabeth, her parents and family bid fair-well to Captain Kerr and some of the other Golconda passengers. With a baby sister only days old, the family boarded a packet ship called "Illinois".

This cargo ship took the family up the Mississippi River to Keokuk, Iowa. Joseph Smith had been dead for nine years.

"We lay three days at New Orleans. We then took passage up the river on a steamer. We were six days and one night in getting to St. Louis. That day we changed vessels and started for Keokuk. Next night we landed at Keokuk so our sailing was done with. We lay three days at Keokuk and then started for the plains. Such bad roads I have never seen. We went 13 miles from Keokuk and lay over. We lightened up and burnt boxes and goods. I threw away about 100 pounds of clothing, etc.

On Sunday, about twenty of us went across the Mississippi River to Nauvoo. We saw the ruins of the Saints' homes, the ruins of the Temple and we visited the Nauvoo Mansion. We saw Mr. Bidamon, the man who married Emma Smith. We saw Lucy Smith, the Prophet's mother, and also Emma. We also saw his three sons, Joseph, Frederick, and David. David was then in his 9th year and Joseph was 21. We also saw Mr. Bidamon's little girl about the same age as David. They were all playing together about the house." - James Rieie,

In Keokuk Iowa, the Kemmish family and my sixteen year old 4x great-grandmother prepared to make a 1400 mile march to Utah.

8 Rules To Atheism Plus

Eight simple lessons to becoming the great Atheism+'er. Follow these simple rules and the world is your oyster.

Lesson One: Use Resources Wisely
If you are angry at someone because they said something you do not like, be passive-aggressive and post your complaints on blogs and twitter. That way, your minions can do your fighting for you, while you cower behind your fan club.

Lesson Two: Never forget that all men want to rape you.
It is important that you constantly remind men that most rapes are committed by men. That way, they will feel guilty about having a penis in the first place. If they feel bad about being men, then it is easier for you to get what you want from them.

Lesson Three: Take all internet comments seriously

If some nameless, faceless internet troll says something mean to you, you should make sure the whole world knows that you are being threatened, and that you have a stalker. People will feel sorry for you and rush to your side with a box of chocolates and Kleenex.

My ancestor - Elizabeth Kemmish part I

SouthSea - home of my ancestors
When I was nine years old my grandmother took me to a nursing home to visit her mother. My great grandmother, (little grandma as we called her) was frail and unresponsive. She was short and had thin, short snow white hair.  My grandmother told me that she would not understand me if I spoke to her, but that I should touch her hands.

"She will know you love her when you hold her hands. She cannot understand you, but she will feel your touch."

I looked at my great grandmothers hands. Her skin was transparent, wrinkled and thin. I never did touch her hands.

A few years later my great grandmother died in Washington State. Her funeral was uncomfortable. The minister talked about her life and my grandmother was upset because he got a few things wrong. Then an old man got up and started to sing horribly. I mean - that singing was really, really, really bad. Me, my sister and our cousin Vincent started laughing at what a bad singer this man was. We were children, and controlling our urge to laugh at that moment was unbearable.

My grandmother was devastated by the loss of her mother. She took post mortum photographs.  She said that of all the death and loss in her life, the loss of her mother hit her the hardest. My grandmother told me that her mother was deeply religious, but also suffering from paranoia all her life. They were poor...very poor. Marie did not own a pair of shoes until she married.

Re-articulating the Conservative Party

On election night, Meghan McCain, tweeted, "my party has to evolve or it is going to die."

That turned out to be the most popular tweet in the two year history of her account. I agree with Ms. McCain on this issue, the Republican party must evolve or it will die. The country has changed, demographics have changed, and no matter what - they need votes to win elections.

Sixty-six percent of single women voters voted for Obama. Think about that number for a moment. Now, think about the rhetoric we have been hearing Republicans lately. Rape, homosexuals, abortion, welfare, and social policies that are not the governments business.

The fact is that most Americans are not on the Republican side when it comes to social policies.  They have been discussing gay sex, abortion, birth control, 'legitimate'rape vs 'illegitimate' rape. They call women whores, they call Obama a foreign born Muslim. Then, Republicans pundits insult the voter by saying only reason voters turn to the Democrat party is because they want free stuff. They say Obama just gives away free stuff to people, and we are all a bunch of lazy moochers.

Let me put it that way, as long as voters hear that rhetoric, the Republican party should not expect to win elections anytime soon. Their party must evolve, and speak to the people if they want to get votes. If the Republican party does not evolve, they will be replaced by the Libertarian party. They must decide if they want to be the Republican party of Abraham Lincoln or Republican party of Glenn Beck.

It is all fine and dandy to advocate for an ideology, after all, diverse opinions and challenging perspectives are the stuff that make people smarter. The problem is that they are on the wrong side. Americans are not on their side anymore. As time goes on, the Republicans will have fewer and fewer people on their side. Voters are not crusty old white men that smell like Old Spice and BenGay. The face of voters are women, Hispanics and African Americans.  Slowly but surely, the crusty old men will die off. The red necks will be here to replace them, but minorities are having more babies than whites. The face of the American voter has changed. They need to stop talking about rape babies, abortion, and entitled brats who want handouts from the government. They need to stop pandering to the church, because guess what, in the last ten years the atheist population grew from six to fifteen percent. Republicans will have to get it, change, or evolve into a new party.

Femanon writes about rape fantasies

When I read comments, I make a good faith effort to understand what the person is trying to say, and put it in the appropriate context. You saw me do this earlier when I discussed Karl Marx's infamous expression, "religion is the opium of the masses." It is worth noting that my desire to understand the radical feminists is sincere. The above comment was taken from Femanon's blog. Herein, she plainly states that women do not have much say in what they enjoy sexually because women have been permanently shaped by their first sexual images. She claims sexuality is formed from one's first sexual images, which for most women will be pornography, sex in movies or rape.

Femanon - Barley Legal White Girl Gone Radical

Image from Femanon's Blog

Today I watched a video posted by John the Other, entitled "Pee Zed Fails Challenge." Before he gets into the point of his video, discussing nemesis PZ Myers, he directs viewers to a feminist website Radical Hub. I stopped reading feminist literature when I stopped reading Cosmo magazine, admittedly I am not up to date on feminist issues anymore because they just started to sound like the same thing over and over again. I randomly selected a blog to read and I am writing about it.

The blog was about how men reduced women to a body part - the vagina, and, men think the vagina is always ready for penetration any time, day or not, sleeping or awake. There were many buzz words, catchy constructions and strongly put ideas that really captivated my mind. Here is one you all might enjoy. "The entire construction of woman, as men have created it, is based on vaginas being holes, and women being only vaginas" Errr...I do declare! Got your attention didn't I? It gets better, get a load of this one, "The vagina is the central part of our sexuality, as men see it. (And because we’re taught the male perspective, women see it this way too.)  I’ve never even heard of a man touching a woman’s bits without fingering her." If that is not enough to make you feel all warm and fuzzy, it gets even better. "But of course, men’s asses are closed.  Gay men who bottom are not asked to have their asses pryed open annually to ensure their health. "

Religion is as Religion Does

In 1843, Karl Marx said, “Religion is the opium of the masses.” This quote is often misunderstood, but rarely misused. When we read the actual quote, it sounds a bit different. “Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.”

When reading the proceeding sentence, we see that Karl Marx is describing what religion does, rather what it is. In that particular quote, Marx does not say religion is a narcotic, doping people into stupid submission. Rather, he says religion does something; it makes the world a more bearable place to live for oppressed, heartless, soulless world and people.

Duplicitous US voting system

American voting polls needs to be revamped. In first world democracies, the people know the votes almost immediately  Ballots are counted rapidly, accurately and only once in a blue moon do people suspect voter fraud, political fraud, or voter suppression. I hope that I am not the only person who finds it just a bit...odd...that in this country the Republican party have 'scouts'out watching for voter fraud, while the Democrats have 'scouts'out watching the Republican 'scouts'whose anterior motive may be to suppress voters.

Mental Slavery - free your mind and the rest will follow

Islamic Slavery to Slave Morality
In order to understand how religion enslaves the mind, we must examine two types of morality as described by Friedrich Nietzsche in Beyond Good And Evil. In most of the modern world, we do not live as masters and slaves to other individuals, however the two systems still exist in our minds.  Although this rule applies to other monotheistic religions, this essay is concerned only with Islam. Islam created a world view where Muslims are proud to be slaves and consider slavery to be a noble institution.

The image that comes to mind is the image of an African slave, happily picking cotton because he knows that being a slave is a good thing. The image is enough to break the heart of any civilized person.

What we are about to examine, Slave Morality vs. Master Morality  As we examine these two concepts, one can easily understand how Muslims around the world are slaves in their mind, and slaves with every breath they inhale.

According to Nietzsche, Slave morality is absolutely everywhere. Anytime someone grounds his or her morality on what the Master does, this is slave morality. Although slaves and masters do not exist in modern times, human beings still exist within the two moral systems. Slaves are only able to do precisely what their masters tell them. Their master dominates a slave’s entire life. Therefore, slaves think about morality in terms of their masters. In the position of a slave, where everything they do is for the master, they will come to resent their master. In some countries, slaves hate their masters to the degree that they equate everything about their Masters as evil. Slaves believe everything Masters Value to be equally evil. Moral evil enters the picture in slave morality, as a form of resentment for the master. Anything the master values the slave will hate. Slaves define morality entirely in terms of the ‘evil’ master.

Twenty-four years ago today, Gerald Rivera gave birth to Trash TV

November 3, 1988

I remember that day very well. I was in elementary school. Talk show host Geraldo Rivera was all over the evening news with a broken nose. We could not believe it! A fight...a real fight on daytime television.

We were talking about it for days. The episode involved anti-racist skinheads, white supremacists, black and Jewish activists. A confrontation between John Metzger and Roy Innis ensued. Metzger called Innis an Uncle Tom. (A black man who will do anything to stay in good standing with "the white man" including betray his own people ) The guests ended up in a full-out brawl with chairs hurled, punches and kicks thrown. Audience, stage hands and Geraldo himself got involved, Rivera threw a few good punches at the white supremacist.

One of the racists punched Rivera in the face, smashing his nose. Rivera did not press charges because he did not want to be "tied up with the roaches" (meaning white supremacists.) We were shocked when it happened.
