Reimagining Our Ancestral Scottish Home Dunmore House as a modern estate
Dunmore House: Reimagining My Scottish Ancestral Home
Dunmore, in the Scottish Highlands, was the ancestral home of a branch of Clan MacMillan (McMillan), from whom my family may descend. Of course, not all my ancestors lived on the estate, and the grand mansion depicted in these images is my own imaginative interpretation rather than a historical reconstruction.
Today, I decided to have a little fun with my family history. What if I could build my own country home, inspired by the architecture, atmosphere, and traditions of my Scottish ancestors?
These images are the result of that creative experiment: a modern Scottish country manor, complete with elegant interiors, traditional stonework, beautiful gardens, and all the comforts of contemporary living.
It's a playful blend of genealogy, architecture, history, and a little wishful thinking. After all, if you're going to dream about building a country estate, why not draw inspiration from your ancestral roots?
